IDGTE's Technology Seminar and

71st Annual Luncheon


The 2018 IDGTE technology seminar and annual luncheon is to be held at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. This will comprise a morning seminar session, followed by the traditional luncheon and guest speakers in the afternoon.

Technical Visit to Ricardo Technical Centre and University of Brighton


A visit has been arranged to Ricardo, Shoreham and will focus on developments in Reciprocating Engine technology, including the CryoPower system - as well as the current Energy Scene in the UK and other markets.  A tour of the Shoreham facilities and the development rigs for the CryoPower engine at Brighton is included.

The Anson Engine Museum will once again be holding its 'Midsummer Mingle'.  This is open to anyone associated with the diesel industry past or present.

Visit to Wärtsilä, Trieste


A joint IDGTE/IMarEST technical visit to Wärtsilä, Trieste, Italy is being planned.  Visitors will be able to follow the engine production lines, extending one kilometre through the heart of the factory, for a close-up view of the production process and the advanced technology and innovation that characterise the Group’s operations in 70 countries.


The visit will be arranged near to a weekend so that people can extend their stay to visit Venice and the surrounding area.

29-30 September


Weekend Visit to Mid Wales


A weekend social event in Wales is being planned based around visiting the Internal Fire Museum of Power at Tanygroes near Cardigan.


The event programme is based on two previous successful IDGTE weekend visits to the same location over the past decade. The event starts with a trip on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway and can conclude with a visit to the National Trust property at Llanerchaeron.

Gas Turbine Papers Day


Following on from the successful papers days held at MAN Stockport, University of Lincoln and RWE Ferrybridge, plans are being finalised to hold a Gas Turbine Papers Day in Peterborough.

2018 Annual General Meeting


Following the AGM there will provisionally be a presentation on the life and work of the late Dr Meherwan Boyce, CEO of Boyce Engineering International and author of the “Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook"
