Workshop hosted by
Engineering inspiration for a new generation
Inspired by Team GB success at the Olympics and engineering innovation on the public stage, I am delighted to announce our first Young Engineers event.
Following our ‘Invitation to Inspire’ in May 2012, Castrol Power answered the call. In conjunction with Castrol specialists, we have formulated a 2 day workshop specifically aimed at Young Engineers in the early stages of their careers, whether postgraduates or technicians in first or second appointments. The workshop reveals the hidden treasures of lubrication – the lifeblood of anything that moves! You might only think of oil when you have to fill up your car or lubricate your bike chain, but during the course of the workshop when you will visit the test laboratory and discuss case studies, secrets and skills of engineering lubricants for specific purposes will be revealed.
During my day at the Olympic Park in August, I discovered the BP 360 degree cinema and experienced the 3D video presentation of the BP Sports ambassadors where they talked about the key attributes that made them successful, how these qualities underpin BP’s exploration and how they overcome engineering challenges.
Creating strong building blocks of knowledge, expertise and contacts are the foundations of any young career. The IDGTE vision is that by enabling our young engineers to tap into the technical excellence of our experienced network of engineers, we will be a catalyst for a new generation of engineers to be inspired to achieve their own goals and aspirations.
It seems fitting therefore for Castrol Power, one of the lubrication specialists within BP, to launch us on our first leg to carry the engineering flame to inspire a new generation of young engineers.
